I grew up in the heart of the ghetto in Chicago during the depression. There was a gang on every street, and our biggest struggle everyday was we were either running from the gangs or with the gangs, and this was just getting to school and back. I still have scars from a switchblade that I received through my hands. I had an ice pick stuck in my temple. My high school was probably the roughest school in America .
